Happy Holidays Y'all! This is a encore presentation of a collaborative holiday drink recipe blog back by popular demand. I hope you enjoy them all!
Last Christmas I savored the best homemade eggnog of my life! My boyfriend and I prepared it together. I asked for the recipe and below you will find his response. I so enjoy his hilariously dry sense of humor as evidenced in his recipe below, slightly revised.
Whether you find yourself hosting a gathering or attending one, I've joined a few creative bloggers to share our favorite holiday cocktail recipes! I'm sure you just might be inclined to try them all!!
A nod to National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, my favorite Christmas movie!
These whimsical directions are written to be followed by two people who appreciate each other's company in the kitchen. As you will see, the recipe is truly decadent and meant to be anticipated and relished once a year.
You will need:
12 eggs (local farm fresh and cage-free recommended) 2 quarts half & half 1 quart whipping cream 16 ounces powdered sugar 1 fifth of Kentucky bourbon (maybe more if you follow the recipe precisely) 1 pint of brandy Fresh nutmeg
A few decadent ingredients.
Step-by-step instructions:
Separate the eggs…. so they don’t fight.
Whip the egg whites into a puffy pillow.
Vigorously beat the yokes in a separate bowl.
Sample the bourbon.
Slowly fold the yokes into the egg whites.
Kiss your helper.
The eggs are separated but then added back in.
Combine the powdered sugar into the formula.
Have a sip of bourbon.
Pour the half & half into the mixture.
Take a moment to tell your sous chef something you love about them.
Share a taste of bourbon.
Pour in the brandy and what’s left of the bourbon. Then open another bottle of bourbon so you can add at least a fifth to your elixir.
Tell your partner how crazy you are about them.
In a separate bowl, use a mixer to beat the whipping cream until its fluffy.
Fold the whipping cream into the mixture.
Fresh whipped cream is always the best!
Grate fresh nutmeg on top.
Break out the mistletoe, hold it high and give your helper a big smooch!
Nutmeg adds that Christmasy flavor!
Cover the eggnog and refrigerate.
Fill the air with some cheery Christmas music and do a little decorating.
Now tidy up and snuggle on the couch while watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and enjoying this heavenly, seasonal treat!
